New Goals

Yesterday I ran my 8 miles outside even though it was raining.  It was not a downpour just a lite sprinkle so I went for it.  It felt good, I felt good, I felt strong and my legs felt great!  I have been thinking a lot about what is next for me with running.  As much as I love signing up for marathons I have yet to sign up for my next one and I am not sure why.  I want to make sure I am ready especially since I have ran 3 in the last 6 months. I am no miracle runner and like most people my body does better when it has the proper recovery. I really miss logging miles.  I go up and down all the time with training.  The other day I was talking with my sister Jen and I told her that right now I want to work on getting in more miles before I sign up for my next one.

So my new goal is get up to 40- 50 miles a week comfortably.  Right now I am at about 25 miles so I have a ways to climb.  Also I want to do it right so I don't risk injury.  Once I am there I will see which race will be next!

(Sorry for the fuzzy pic)

On a totally different side note I am totally in love with these shoes and I can't stop thinking about them :)

Mark your calendars!  Big STUFF happening JUNE 1st!!!!

So tell me, what are your goals right now?  Anyone working on logging miles??

  1. My goals right now are to start increasing my base as well because I am doing my first marathon in October. I'm also trying to cross train more in an effort to gain more fitness and not get so burnt out.

  2. I am just trying to ease my way back into things after an injury. My goal is to try and get back to where I was before all of this happened. Good luck on your new goals!

  3. I'm always working at logging miles. My main goals are all ultras so I need the time on the legs.

  4. My goals are so opposite of yours right now. I am working on super low miles and working on my speed. I'm doing a weight lifting program so that I can be a stronger runner, and doing speed intervals in between sets. I'm hoping to really cut my 10k time and then start building miles from there. I get worried that logging too many miles (aka junk miles) only leads to burn out and injury. One day maybe I'll be able to be as mentally tough to log all of those miles like you! ps, LOVE the skirts!! I need to work on my chubby thighs so I can wear one.

    1. Oh please girl you can totally wear one!

I know what you mean about junk miles. I am hoping mine don't turn out that way. I would love to go to a cross fit gym but my lazy cheap self has a hard time signing up for one so I just do the miles :)

Next time I am out there we will have to do an easy fun run!!

  5. I'm focusing on speed work this summer and getting in a run each and every day even if it's just a mile while adding in a long run every couple of weeks.

  6. This is sooo weird! Just as I was reading this post you sent me an email! My goals are to start logging more miles too. I've put running on the back burner for a while I've been trying to build strength but I'd like to do a better job at combining both! Eeee! I am going to go open the PDF you sent me and take a good look at everything now!
