Woke up at 4:30. The race started at 7 and had to be there around 5:30 to get on the bus to the start line. It was a little cool that morning so I wore a long sleeve until I had to drop my bag. I also ran the first time in a Lululemon running skirt. I really liked it. There are black shorts built in under the skirt. Way more fun than shorts.
The race was good. The weather was perfect. 60 and overcast. I felt good the entire time with only little knee pain. I started out very slow. I think I could have started a little quicker and then I could have got under my goal of under 2 hours. I still remind myself that this run was just for a practice race before the marathon and try not to give myself a hard time.
I ended strong. And had a great cheer team waiting for me that the finish line. I love these people.
Here are the results.
Do you like shorts or running skirts?
If you prefer shorts, which ones do you like the best? I find that a lot of shorts balloon out and I don't like that. I think this is why I like my skirt so much.
Now I just need to convince my sisters to wear a skirt for Grandma's marathon.
If you do like running skirts let us know which brand you like the best?

That skirt is adorable! Great job on your time, I wish we were having 60 degree weather here in Dallas :) Friday I did 10 miles and it was 95 out, I thought I was going to die! ha!
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is adorable and it looks great on you! I'm not so sure a skirt would look good on me.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the half and good luck at Grandma's!
Nice job on the race! My goal is a under 2 hour half too. I got close but no cigar.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE running skirts. They are SO cute. I just hate running in them. My legs rub together and then brush fires start. Not a good look for me. But sometimes I wear them to outdoor events, like concerts just so I can wear something cute. :-)
I love running skirts!!! My hips are awesomely wide so the shorts ride up and end up being booty shorts. Not a good look for me :) ha! Congrats on the race, awesome time!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! How nice to have such a good cheering team waiting for you at the finish! :)
ReplyDeleteI have not tried a running skirt yet but have been in search of one that I like. They just look so comfortable...and not to mention cute :) Love the one you are wearing! Awesome race! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI'd love a running skirt---I'm on the lookout for one that suits me. Yours look so cute. Awesome race!

I love that skirt! I like the speed shorts by Lululemon....but only in some of the patterns because the material is a little stiffer. I have yet to try their skirts.
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is seriously adorable.

I haven't been able able to comment on your blog all the time- it's really weird. Anyway, how was stillwater Heather? was it hilly? lots of down hills? Have you run the lumberjack days race? I did that 10 miler years ago and I remember it being mostly downhill and killer on the quads. I'm interested to hear about this course!

Thanks everyone for all the nice comments... I loved the skirt and the race was good too. We have had some others tell us that they cant always comment... we are working on that.
ReplyDeleteThe course not the same as Lumberjack Day 10 mile. You head south out of Stillwater to Bayport then back around that way and finish coming in North of Stillwater. It was hilly... lots of up and downs. I feel like Stillwater is a ton of hills no matter which direction you go.
