How was your weekend? We had such a great weekend over here! Scott took a summer Friday(whole day) and so we decided to head out to the beach. We only lasted about an hour to an hour and a half but it was still fun. We got stuck in a major crazy storm on the way back and because we were not sure when it was going to be over we had to drive through it. We were on the motorcycle so we got soaked!
Also to start the weekend off right I got my order of Healthy Bites from Cotter Crunch! They are so so good!! We have been major addicted over here and are having trouble not eating them so fast.
So down to business... Anyone signed up for races this fall? I am so excited because Attica Athletic will be at both the Women Rock Half Marathon Expo and the Lady Speed Stick Half Marathon Expo!! They are both in the end of Aug and beginning of Sept. Just a week apart AND my sisters and I will not only be running the booth but running the races too!! We are so excited, so if you live in MN or your are planning to run these races come visit us at the booth!! We would love to meet you AND you can check out the Attica skirts!
I have also started helping/training with a friend of mine out here who wants to run and so we have set a goal for her to run this Central Park 5k Fun Run on Aug 11th. I am really excited for her and it will be a great race!
I am trying to convince the hubs to run the 4th of July 10k on Roosevelt Island but he is just not sure yet. I have never had so much fun just signing up for shorter races before. I used to only sign up for full marathons which are great BUT a lot of training goes into them and right now I just want to run for fun!!
What races do you have coming up? Anyone gonna be in MN and stop by :)
Do you prefer longer or shorter races?

How To Fit It All In
How was your weekend? I would have to say that mine was pretty good. I had a nice long run on Saturday and while I was out I ran past a farmers market and there were strawberries everywhere!! Has anyone else noticed that they have all of a sudden flooded the markets? I love strawberries but don't eat them too often. After seeing them everywhere I was craving strawberry shortcake so I made my own little version and it was oh so good!
This is my question.... How do you fit all of your workouts into each week? I would like to increase my miles by running four days a week. I would also like to do Tracy Anderson once a week, arms/weights twice a week, bike twice a week and fit in a yoga class! That would be 10 workouts in 7 days which may be easy for some but I don't like to spend more than an hour a day working out unless its my long run. I only have so much time in the morning before I need to start doing other work. Yes I could get up at the crack of dawn but I am not sure I would be very good at that.
So what do you do? How do you fit it all in??

Death by Stairs and a Birthday
This past weekend Jenny had to make a quick trip to MN. Sad to say that the reason she came was a sad one but in the rush to get here so booked two one way tickets from Denver to Minneapolis. Which was great for me. Her trip was going to be so short that I wasn't even going to see her but since the mix up we got to spend all day Monday together. And even better we got in a great workout. The city we grew up in has some great sets of stairs. Combine doing a couple sets of each set of stairs along with a few 5 miles it turns into a great workout. Since having the 5th child I have been really trying to get my mileage built back up. And it sure is tough. Love being able to workout with my sisters as much as possible.
( this is one of the sets that we ran)
Nothing better then an after workout picture in the car
Also this week my oldest turned 11. Wow how times flies by... one of her biggest requests for her birthday was to stay up until 11:57.. the time of her birth. So we did and it was late. I was super tired which made me feel very old. She totally loved staying up that late and we had a little celebration.
Well off to another day. It is storming here this morning and I must say I love a morning storm in the summer. Makes everyone in such a calm mood. Not the usual rush of wanting to run out and play.
Love taking pictures of my oldest holding my youngest.. nothing better...
What are you all up to today? I was going to take everyone out for a light run this morning but the rain has kept us inside in our PJs... maybe this after noon we will head out.

Recap NY Mini 10K
This race was so so so much fun. It was the 40th anniversary of the all women's race and I was happy to be a part of it. My goal was that I didn't have one and since I was in the port-a-potty when the gun went off I knew I was just going to have fun. The race was packed! It was hard to pass people even if you wanted to. I came in at 56 mins which was around a 9:10 min pace. I was really happy with myself because I was able to cheer on a ton of women as I was running. It wasn't until the last 800 meters that I decided to go all out and book it to the finish line. (also I really need to go to the bathroom) I looked at my watch in the last bit and I was up to a 7:21 pace and it felt great!
Here are some of the pix that we got. Scott came with and acted as the photographer for the event. He even threw up a tumblr page which you can check out HERE for more photos!! Everyone had awesome style for this race, it was great!!
Only one more day of no internet! I cannot wait!!
AND CHECK OUT THE ATHLETARIAN!!! She did an AWESOME review of the new Attica Skirts!!!

Gettin' Ready for the Mini 10k
Tomorrow I am running the New York Mini 10k which I am super excited about because it is WOMEN ONLY!!! Woohoo! I am having trouble deciding which skirt to wear though? What color???
Would you wear bright colored pants ever? Well if you would have asked me this question a year ago I would have said NO WAY but since I colored my hair I have a whole new take on bringing color into my wardrobe. I am in LOVE with these pants. I just got them. My sister Heather found them in MN and sent them to me. I am making her go get me some more colors because they are so comfy and cool.
Ivan is loving our new place and wants to go out and play in the backyard area like every hour. It is kinda driving me nuts because I will be in the middle of working and he will act like he needs to go outside to go to the bathroom but really he just wants to go play fetch. But how can I say no to this face ;)
Anyone have any races this weekend?? Scott and I will be setting up shop after the race and selling skirts cuz we are awesome like that! If you are around and want to stop on by to pick up your skirt just give twitter me and I will let you know our exact location!
Color?? Which color should I wear?
xx

Happy National Running Day!
Happy Running Day!! I decided to run at the gym treadmill so I could watch the Today Show, I am having major withdrawals for anything TV or internet. With our recent move I have been without internet and will continue to be until the 13th! It is really killing me sadly enough. So I got to the gym and they were playing Midnight in Paris in the movie theater so I skipped TV and went straight for the movie. 4 miles on the treadmill and 4 miles on the bike.
I also wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported me and helped me achieve a successful launch for Attica Athletic!!! I am so excited for this new venture in my business and the feedback as been so great!! So again THANK YOU to EVERYONE!!!

Running in Wyoming
Last week I went back to visit my Grandparents in Burlington Wyoming. This year I was particularly nervous about it because it was going to be just Me(Jen), my Mom and my 6 year old son Peter. Normally there is a slew of us going out there to all spend time together as a family. I was nervous because I wasn't quite sure how I was going to entertain Peter for 4 whole days with no other kids his age anywhere around.
Don't get me wrong. Wyoming is some beautiful country with lots to do, but when you have an extremely high energy child who completes more in a day then most families of 5 it is easy to run out of new ideas for spending time.
So anywhoo, we went and surprisingly had more then enough to do. Never felt bored once and enjoyed every minute of it!
I also ended up achieving a small running goal while I was there. Being that I run with a club I rarely ever run alone. I was actually kind of scared to. I have felt that at times I do depend on my running pals too much!
So I challenged myself this week to just get out the door and run. Not have a plan, or definite miles or pace in mind. I just wanted to get out the door, see how it feels and run from there...alone.
I am happy to report, I did it!
Who knew, I can run on my own! I seriously thought I had almost forgotten how.
Do any of you dread running alone?
Who has bought their Attica running skirt? I love my custom green and purple one =)
-Jen
He says his favorite thing we did was the Fireworks!

here is my weekly mileage breakdown:
Wednesday: 5.5 Miles
Thursday: 4 Miles
Friday: off
Saturday: 10 Miles! (I can not remember the last time I ran 10 alone)
The miles the first 2 days we are an easy pace. Saturday, I started and felt strong so turned it into a moderate tempo with a massive hill climb in the middle. and then let myself relax and feel good at the turn around point and enjoy the rest of the way home easy.
The top of that mountain is where I turned around and headed back. I was so proud of myself I made my mom drive me out there to take a pic! If you look closely in the background you can see some green grass. I started my 10 miler down there.
Who knew, I can run on my own! I seriously thought I had almost forgotten how.
Beautiful Rainbow outside my Grandparents Back door!

Introducing Attica
Heather here... I feel like I haven't blogged forever since I really haven't. I had my fifth baby and so far things are going good. I am feeling good and getting my workouts in. Which has been a total lifesaver for my mental state, as well as getting physically fit.
I still am talking to my sisters all the time about what to wear while working out, that looks good too. Let's face it; as a woman you know that when you look good working out, you also just feel better about yourself. Sarah whipped up some skirts for a race that her and Jen did back in Januray. They were a huge hit. Tons of people commented on them and wanted to know where they could get one. At that is when Attica Athletic was born...
The shot above is of Jen and Sarah wearing the original custom versions at the Goofy race. And below is me sporting "the Merlot" style on a run today. Made it 4 miles, and it felt great! Plus...I know I looked fab too.
Check us out:
All the skirts are available today.. HAPPY SHOPPING
P.S
This is my Francis Ann... 8 weeks... wow does time fly and they grow so fast.
